APS rate hikes in 2020 this would average 5.4% pre household. APS as of 2017 was around 4.5% now, 2 years later, APS wants to increase their rate by over 5%. For the average customer, they use around 1,020 kilowatt hours of electricity per month. APS is requesting $184 million increase which is based on customers’ energy usage. It would impact 95% of APS residential customers. APS serves about 2.7 million people in 11 of Arizona’s 15 counties.
ACC votes to allow APS to increase rates, customers would start seeing as of December 2020. APS has not announced any dates for the next steps in the APS increase process. It will hold rate case hearings and eight or more APS officials will have to testify why the rate the increase is considered needed.
